२६ नोव्हेंबर २००८चा मुंबईवरील दहशतवादी हल्ला

भारताच्या इतिहासातील अतिशय भयानक असा हल्ला होता याचे स्मरण आजच्या या दिवशी प्रत्येकाने ठेवणे गरजेचे आहे.हे फार दुर्दैवी आहे.हा मुंबई शहरावर १० पाकिस्तानी दहशतवाद्यांनी केलेला एक भीषण हल्ला होता. २६ नोव्हेंबर ते २८ नोव्हेंबर दरम्यान चाललेल्या या हल्ल्यात ३४ परदेशी नागरिकांसह कमीतकमी १९७ जण ठार झाले, तर ८०० पेक्षा अधिक लोक जखमी झाले.मुंबईच्या इतिहासातील महाभयंकर अशा या हल्ल्यात मुंबई पोलीस व भारतीय सुरक्षा दलांनी ९ दहशतवाद्यांना ठार केले व उर्वरित एकाला जिवंत पकडून परिस्थितीवर नियंत्रण मिळवले.

दहशतवाद्यांनी शहरात एकूण दहा ठिकाणी एकत्रित हल्ले चढविले. यामध्ये आठ हल्ले दक्षिण मुंबई येथे छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनस, हॉटेल ताज महाल पॅलेस अँड टॉवर, हॉटेल ओबेरॉय ट्रायडेंट, लियोपोल्ड कॅफे, कामा हॉस्पिटल, नरीमन हाउस, मेट्रो सिनेमा, आणि टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया इमारतीच्या मागील एक गल्ली या ठिकाणी झाले. या सर्व ठिकाणी दहशतवाद्यांनी लोकांवर अंदाधुंद गोळीबार केला व हातबॉम्ब फेकले. याव्यतिरिक्त माझगांव डॉक येथे एक बॉम्बस्फोट व विलेपार्ले येथे एका टॅक्सी मध्ये स्फोट झाला.[
पकडला गेलेला एकमेव दहशतवादी, अजमल अमीर कसाब, हा २६ नोव्हेंबरलाच पोलिसांच्या तावडीत जिवंत सापडला. त्याच्याकडून मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार सर्व हल्लेखोर पाकिस्तानी होते, व या हल्ल्यांमागे लष्कर ए तोयबा या पाकिस्तानी दहशतवादी संघटनेचा हात होता.भारतीय सरकारने कसाबचा कबुलीजबाब व त्याच्याकडून मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार ठोस पुरावे गोळा केले, व ते अमेरिका व अन्य देशांना दिले. पाकिस्तानने आधी या प्रकरणी आपले हात झटकले, व कसाब व अन्य दहशतवादी पाकिस्तानी नागरिक असल्याचा इंकार केला.परंतु ७ जानेवारी २००९ रोजी पाकिस्तान सरकारने कसाब हा पाकिस्तानीच असल्याचे अधिकृतरीत्या मान्य केले.
या हल्ल्यांमध्ये कमीतकमी १९७ व्यक्ती ठार झाल्या.
